Ariel Ameijenda was born in Montevideo in the home of one of the most brilliant luthiers in 1963. He learns from his father Manuel the finest technique used by the Spanish violeros in the construction of classic guitars and the passion for building renascence and baroque string instruments. At the age of 14, under his father guidance he starts the construction of his first instruments. With 19 years old Ariel enters at the University where he studies Musicology for 4 years paying special interest in subjects like acoustics and history which would apply late in the construction of his guitars and ancient instruments. In 1992, 1994 and 1996 he travels to India moved by a personal interest in learning Sitar and the construction of Indian classical instruments.
In his long experience as a multiple instrument player, he has participated with a long list of colleagues from different areas (classical, jazz, pop, fusion, etc).
From this extensive list should be mentioned the edition of his first CD "Ofrenda" (2000) with Nicolás Arnicho in percussion, which has been reedited lately.
He has also composed music for theatre in many occasions, winning the "Florencio" otorgued by the critics in 1997, and a nomination for the same prize in 1999.
